COMMUNITY NEWS

Safari manager, Jean, was recently joined by humanitarian Kingsley Holgate to help distribute aid and food parcels to the local community.

The devastating effects of COVID, travel restrictions and lost income have impacted those in rural Zululand hugely, but we’re committed to assisting community and conservation projects.

Jean, Kingsley and team visited some local early childhood development centres to distribute Monati porridge.

“It’s always great giving back to the community. The irony of leading Kingsley Holgate through Zululand and showing him at least one new route, was great fun!” said Jean. “The locals here have had a really hard time over the past twelve months, and initiatives like this go a long way to ease some of the burden. Providing children in an already impoverished community with nutritious meals is at the centre of what the Do More Foundation do and we’re delighted to partner with them.”

Within South Africa, food insecurity is a daily reality for communities: at least two million people survive on only one meal a day. Food provision through community-based food gardens and distributing healthy snacks to young children in at-risk areas is just one way Ghost Mountain Inn supports the community and we’d like to thank the Do More Foundation and Kingsley Holgate for the love they have shown to the people of Mkuze and the surrounding areas.
